BLUEWBC Project: Three days event Teaching staff training (Task 4.1) and Staff training for new and upgraded equipment (Task 4.3) at University of Split Faculty of Maritime Studies from 8th to 10th of December 2021
On 08/12/2021, meeting with Matea Dorčić dipl.iur. Head of Administrative department of Tourism and Maritime affairs Split-Dalmatia County was organised for University of Tirana and University of Vlora Representatives at Split-Dalmatia County.
On 09/12/2021 and 10/12/2021 experts from UNIST and invited speakers shared their knowledge on: Cross-country collaboration on blue growth and economy, Maritime transport emerging goals as an important sector within countries' Blue economy, The role of technology in blue economy and maritime tourism and New tourism management. Simultaneously to Teaching staff training, Staff training for new and upgraded equipment: Engine Room Simulators and Bridge Simulators were performed.
The first meeting on Work Package 4 (WP4) of BLUEWBC Project (Sustainable development of Blue economies through higher education and innovation in Western Balkan Countries)
On 4th October 2021, Project partners from NTNU, University of Montenegro (UoM), University Ismail Qemali Vlora (UV), University of Tirana (UT), Vilnius Tech and UNIST (leading partner for WP 4) held the internal meeting on the organization of teaching staff training (WP4.1) via Zoom.
It was decided that the trainings should be organized in Alesund (Norway), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Split.
The traning in Split should take place from 7th to 10th December 2021.
Erasmus+ Project: Sustainable development of BLUE economies through higher education and innovation in Western Balkan Countries (BLUEWBC) Midterm Meeting (WP 8.3)
In Project Proposal, it was planned to organize Project midterm meeting at Faculty of Maritime Studies University of Split as intensive 3-day meeting but the event was organized as 3-day on-line ZOOM meeting due to Covid 19 pandemic. The meetings took place on:
- 3rd September 2021 (13:00 – 15:00) – 20 participants
- 10th September 2021 (10:00 – 12:30) – 16 participants
- 13th September 2021 (14:00 – 16:30) – 13 participants
in order to provide management, financial, dissemination and exploitation reports as well as the evaluation of the Project activities.
Faculty of Maritime Studies Virtual tour
Welcome to the official virtual tour of our faculty. The tour was made to be like a real walk through the faculty premises - using the implemented spatial navigation. It is composed of 269 photographs, taken in 360 degrees.

Faculty of Maritime Studies
Higher education of seafarers in Split began with the establishment of the Maritime College in 1959.
Maritime affairs by definition imply knowledge and skills related to the sea. The teachers of the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split have knowledge and experience in education of many generations of students who have decided to find a profession related to the sea and maritime affairs. We are proud of many generations of seamen and maritime experts whose acquired knowledge has made them successful in maritime professions.
The Faculty employs teachers with high research and teaching titles as well as highest ranks in merchant shipping. Lectures take place on the Faculty premises and in the nautical and mechanical engineering simulators, GMDSS simulator as well as in the electrical engineering laboratory, The practical part of the teaching process takes place on board training and research vessel “Naše more“, training vessel "Kraljica mora" as well as Jadrolinija vessels. Professional practice is carried out in "Brodosplit" shipyard workshops, while navigational practice is carried out by going sailing with students.
Education meets the requirements of STCW convention and The Regulation on Requirements for the Award of Ranks and Certification of Seafarers on Board Merchant Ships of the Republic of Croatia.
The Faculty of Maritime Studies is a partner institution of the post-graduate doctoral study "Maritime Affairs" organised by and carried out at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Rijeka.
The Faculty cooperates with many other faculties of Croatia and Europe as well as many shipping companies and companies involved in sea-related activities.
The Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split has founded a professional and scientific journal "Transactions on Maritime Science" - ToMS and International Maritime Science Conference - IMSC.
